Collecting Clothes for D118's New Dress Code

DANVILLE -- Dogs and dress codes. As Danville families shop for uniforms
under District 118's new rules for the school year, one organization is helping students find affordable clothing.

The Humane Society of Danville is collecting shirts, shorts, pants and anything else for students in need of uniforms. The school board approved the new dress code in April. Since then, the district's assistant superintendent says 90 percent of her calls are uniform questions.

The society's director says they are one of many Danville organizations giving families support.

"This is an affordable option because while you could go to the department stores and everything, not everyone in our community can probably do that. So, what we have done is priced down, even with some of the department stores and things like that, to help people that may not have jobs, or are struggling," Humane Society Director Sherry Unzicker said.

Unzicker says volunteers are still seeking donations. Right now, the thrift store only has clothing for middle and high school kids.
