Humane Society Does Better Under New Leadership

DANVILLE -- New leadership is in place at the Humane Society of Danville and the director says the facility is properly licensed.

The facility is not providing animal control services for the city but the director reports a good working relationship with the county shelter that took over.

There is a new nine person board in place that meets twice a month and it is their responsibility to determine what is next for the organization.

The shelter no longer gets money from the city but officials say the shelter is still getting by with donations and sales from it's thrift shop.

The facility has the proper licenses to work with foster homes and rescues to get animals placed.

It has also seen more volunteers interested in helping for the sake of the animals.

The Humane Society is always looking for more volunteers to run the facility.
