Volunteers Needed to Help Cancer Patients

VERMILION COUNTY -- The program is called Road to Recovery and it is sponsored by the American Cancer Society.

The program connects drivers with patients who need transportation to and from treatment.

In Vermilion County, representatives say more drivers are needed.

A single patient could travel to therapy up to thirty times in six weeks causing family and friends to wipe out sick and vacation time from work helping their loved.

Current drivers say volunteering is a good way to stay busy and help those who really need it.

Volunteers donate their time and use their own vehicle and they also set the days they want to work.

If you would like to volunteer you need a valid license and car insurance.

You can contact the American Cancer Society at 1-800-227-2345.
