Russian Media says Crimea Vote Hacked by U of I Computers
A Russian media website is claiming a hacking attack on the Crimea referendum has been traced to the University of Illinois.
The Voice of Russia website says the attacks happened Sunday morning, and their local internet security experts claim to have traced the attack to web IP addresses from the university.
The article goes on to say there are signs that the U.S. National Security Agency has a headquarters set up in Champaign-Urbana.
A university spokesperson told Newschannel 15 that they are aware of the accusations, and are looking into the matter.
