Danville Police Investigate Deadly Shooting
DANVILLE -- Police are still searching for a motive in Sunday's deadly shooting outside of Club Deuce in Danville.
And, the community wants answers as well.
"Everybody was in the club having a good time, and then there was an altercation... Once the altercation happened, we noticed both sides separating to talk about what damages they were going to do to each side," said Marvin Dye, who said he was at Club Deuce when the shooting occurred.
At this point Dye, who is also a friend of the victim's family, says club bouncers stepped in, escorted the men outside and things seemed to calm down. Danville police were also at the club responding to a fight call.
"And before you could know it there was a gunshot," Dye said.
Soon after, Danville Public Safety Director Larry Thomason said police found 25-year-old Demaree Tetter and a 35 year old man with gunshot wounds. Tetter was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other man was taken to Urbana hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
"We'll be looking for a motive as whether or not it was related to the particular night or some other event that occurred in the past. We need to find that and establish and obviously establish whether or not we have issues of pre-planned or spur of the moment type things," Thomason said.
Dye said Tetter's death was a senseless act.
"It was absolutely a causeless crime that now, you know, it makes people think twice about going to any kind of clubs. It makes people just want to stay home and just protect their family," Dye added.
