Half a Million May Qualify for Tax Subsidies

A report by the Kaiser Family Foundation shows more than half a million people in Illinois could buy health insurance through the government and also receive tax subsidies to pay their premiums.

Nearly everyone in the country has to have health insurance by the end of March but insurance brokers say that is going to be a challenge.

They cannot calculate the subsidies until a person applies and problems with the healthcare website are causing delays.

Experts say the subsidies are based on income, location and size of the family and can be helpful to some people but not everyone under the new law.

In most cases individuals making just under forty-six thousand a year to a family of four making under ninety-five thousand will qualify for some kind of tax subsidy.

Reports show Illinois is among the top ten states with the most people eligible for that tax subsidy.

17 million people nationally could get financial assistance as well.
