First Breakfast for Local Survivors, Caregivers

"You know, you don't know what you go through until you go through it," said Ann Ried, a five-year rectal cancer survivor and attendee to the Champaign County Relay for Life's Survivor Breakfast.

Reid, and her husband Mike, were two of the survivors and caregivers who gathered at Good Shepard Lutheran Church on Saturday.

Jill Rannebarger, Champaign County Relay for Life event coordinator, said the breakfast was a good was to get together without having to wait for next year's events.

"Survivor's and caregivers, sometimes you feel alone," Rannebarger said. "But if you've known somebody's who's gone through that, they can give you advice, they can support you. It's so important in the whole process, even when you're cancer free."
