Who Will Run with Gov. Quinn?

2014 is the first year the lieutenant governor and governor will run on the same ticket in Illinois. But we still don't know who will be Gov. Pat Quinn's running mate as he seeks re-election.

Various names are being circulated. One of them is Chicago city treasurer Stephanie Neely, who confirms she has spoken to Quinn about the job.

Today, when asked about his running mate, Quinn would only say that a decision will be coming soon.

"I want to get through the legislative session this week," Quinn said. "Keep our focus on that. It will be finishing up tomorrow, and I want to make sure we get that done right."

Current Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon isn't seeking another term. Instead, she's running against Judy Baar Topinka for state comptroller.

Quinn and his future running mate face a December 2 deadline for filing candidate petitions. The team would need a minimum of 5,000 signatures.
