Gaming Expansion Could be Discussed in Veto Session

Gaming expansion could resurface when the General Assembly comes back to Springfield next week.

State Rep. Robert Rita wants to open discussion on several issues that prevented a House vote on the bill during the spring session.

The proposal would add five new casinos in the state, and add slot machines at both major Chicago airports.

Rita opted not to call the legislation in May, saying he needed time to address concerns. Among them was criticism from the Illinois Gaming Board that there wasn't enough oversight of a Chicago casino.
