Two Women Assaulted in Danville

DANVILLE -- Police are investigating two reports of assault that happened Tuesday morning.

Public Safety Director Larry Thomason says the first assault occurred around 5:30 am in the 1600 block of Beechwood Drive when a 26 year old woman says she was grabbed from behind and pushed into a wooded area.

A vehicle scared the subject away.

The second woman reports she was walking to the bus stop in the same area around 5:45 am when a man jumped from a fenced area and pointed a handgun at her.

She says she was pushed into a wooded area and assaulted.

Both women describe the attacker as a black man, early 20s, approximately 6 feet tall and 150 pounds, wearing shorts and a tank top.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Director Thomason says women should always be alert to the potential of danger.

He says to avoid dimly lit areas and do not walk alone.
