DACC Opens Hoopeston School

HOOPESTON -- Danville Area Community College is preparing to open its first ever satellite school.

The grand opening of the school in Hoopeston is Monday and classes will start there on the 16th.

Multiple courses will be available to students like certified nursing assistance and computer business systems.

School officials say the new location will help students that commute to school in Danville from the north.

President Alice Jacobs says, "It's the second largest population center in the college district and it also is on the northern part of the college district so we believe that there will be more people who will have access to higher education as a result of this center."

School officials say it's an ideal location on East Orange Street near the hospital and high school.

DACC hired a new director for the site and officials believe the new school will help increase enrollment.
