This May 12th-Wettest on Record

The rain hasn't let up for very long these last few weeks, and that trend made May the 12th-wettest May on record.

Illinois climatologist Jim Angel said the state got nearly 6.9 inches last month. That's about 2.3 inches above the long-term average, and far wetter than last year, when only 2.5 inches fell.

The wettest May on record was in 1943, when 8.9 inches fell.
