Danville on Most Dangerous Cities List
DANVILLE-- According to a report from neighborhoodscout.com, Danville is one of the most dangerous cities in America.
"It's very dangerous, very dangerous. I don't care what area you're living in, it's Vietnam, it's a war-zone out there." said lifelong resident Priscilla Bradberry.
The report says you have a 1 in 98 chance of becoming a violent crime victim.
"It represents it to a tee. Maybe more." Bradberry said.
Shannon Miller has lived in Danville for 12 years, she has a four year old son, and says she doesn't need a report to know the city she lives in is dangerous.
"Now I want to live on the outskirts of Danville because I'm scared for my child. To play outside and something crazy happen. Or even go to Danville schools now, and the violence that's in the schools. It's just, it's disturbing." Miller said.
Earlier this week, a 21 year old women was shot and killed.
She's the third person killed this year in Danville.
"If it's a robbery you can always recover something. You can't recover a life." Bradberry said.
But another violent crime statistic has Miller worried the most.
"The rapes is shocking just because I wasn't aware of that." Miller said.
According to the report, Danville has more than 5 times as many rapes per capita than the national average.
"To have a little girl or boy that's a scary thought to have them be running around playing and some guy or girl come pick them up and do whatever. You know, it's scary." Miller said.
