Trucker Charged in Trooper's Death

Charges are filed against a Georgia truck driver in connection with the death of an Illinois state police trooper on Interstate 55.  The Montgomery County state's attorney says Johnny Felton, Jr., 52, of Hinesville, Georgia has been indicted on charges of reckless homicide and operating a truck without a proper commercial driver's license.  Felton's license was issued in Georgia and only allowed him to drive within that state.  He also faces several traffic violations.  District 18 trooper Kyle Deatherage, 32, was killed when he was struck by Felton's semi-truck in November of last year near Litchfield.

Illinois State Police say Felton was taken into custody Tuesday in Georgia. They say he waived extradition to Illinois where he will be arraigned. Felton previously has said he had no comment on the case.

In December, federal regulators found that Felton wasn't medically fit to drive commercially.
