U of I Student Survives I-57 Crash

A U of I student is recovering tonight, after being pinned under a car yesterday.

If not for the heroics of a state trooper he may very well be dead.

The student shared his story with us tonight, but we'd like to warn you the video you're about to see is graphic.

These pictures of Ethan Asofsky, are hard to look at...

The U of I Senior has the left side of his body full of stitches.

Asofsky said, he feels lucky he escaped with just a few dozen stitches and a bunch of bruise.

It began as Asofsky was on his way back to school yesterday--

He lost control of his car on a slick patch of I-57 and slid into a ditch.

He got out of his car because other vehicles were sliding  into the same ditch, and he didn't want to get hit.

Once authorities got to the scene, he crossed the interstate to get help, that's when another car lost control and ran him over.

A moment he says, he'll never forget.
