Katherine Reutter Retires

(AP)-- Katherine Reutter, who won two Olympic medals in short-track speedskating at the 2010 Vancouver Games, is retiring.

   The 24-year-old speedskater said Tuesday in Salt Lake City that her body "can no longer withstand the demands of training."

   Reutter won a silver and a bronze in Vancouver, along with the 1,500-meter world title in 2011, and was the overall World Cup champion that same year. But she had been dogged by injuries throughout her career.

   Reutter says she plans to finish her degree in exercise physiology at Salt Lake Community College and pursue a career in health and fitness.

   She became interested in speedskating after meeting five-time Olympic champion Bonnie Blair at her high school in their shared hometown of Champaign, Il
