UIUC Picket

CHAMPAIGN-URBANA--Service employees at the University of Illinois, are preparing for a strike vote, set to take place Thursday.

Workers were angry today during a picket, claiming university officials are not serious about reaching an agreement.

The Service Employees International Union filed several grievances, including unfair labor practice charges.

Among their demands, workers are asking for fair treatment and better pay.

If a majority of members vote yes to authorize a strike, more than 800 food and building service workers will be able to strike after ten days.
