IL. Open Tech Challenge

CHAMPAIGN--Champaign residents may soon be saying, "There's an app for that."

Last October, Governor Quinn launched an Illinois Open Technology Challenge.

The Governor listed Champaign as one of the four pilot communities.

Tonight people met to discuss the challenge, and come up with application ideas for the City of Champaign.

The goal of the initiative is to promote availability of public data, and encourage the use of technology to address government challenges through innovation and entrepreneurship.

Several groups are forming to come up with an app for Champaign.

The winners of the challenge get $15,000 for a local app.

Another state app could win you another $15,000.
