CU At Home's One Winter Night 2013

CHAMPAIGN--The 2nd Annual CU At Home's One Winter Night is just around the corner.

Participants will brave the cold for 12 hours, to help raise awareness and funds for the homeless.

There are several ways to volunteer:

You can either sleep in a box for 12 hours outside, or come out for a couple of hours to help.

Last year's One Winter Night raised close to $30,000.

This year's goal is $50,000.

They'll have two stations set up for the event, one on Neil Street in Downtown Champaign, and another at the University of Illinois Quad.

CU At Home's Executive Director, Melany Jackson, said it's important to bring awareness to the homeless that are most vulnerable.

Champaign City Mayor Don Gerard said, he agreed and will be sleeping outside again this year.

Along with Gerard, other council members and Champaign's Police Chief Anthony Cobb will be sleeping outside.

One Winter Night 2013 will take place February 1st from 6 pm- 6 am.
