Abraham Lincoln's Hat on Display
SPRINGFIELD--The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, is tipping its hat, to capital city's most famous resident!
They'll be displaying one of his most iconic possessions.
The stovepipe hat now on display at the museum, is one of three in the country.
However, it's the only one the president is known to have worn before the White House, while practicing law here in the Illinois.
It's believed Lincoln purchased the hat some time in the 1850's, from a
shop right downtown.
The stovepipe hat will be on display at the museum for the next six months.
It only makes an appearance once very few years.
The rest of the time, it's stored out of the air and the light, in a vault.
