House Fire Kills Four People Update
ABC Newschannel 15's Shantel Middleton breaks down the last 24 hours of this tragic house fire, that left four people dead.
Investigators have been on the scene of a deadly house fire, that happened in the wee hours of the morning.
Still sifting through, what remains of a two-story home.
It happened on the 900 block of North Ninth Street.
A much different scene last night, as firefighters spent hours getting the blaze under control.
However, they didn't put it out before four of the five people inside were killed.
A preliminary investigation shows the fire started on the first floor, and spread to the second floor.
We're told one of the victims, was found on the ground floor, while three others were discovered upstairs.
The sole survivor, is a 59-year-old woman, who was able to climb onto the roof of the back porch.
That's where both firefighters, and good samaritans helped get her to safety.
Firefighters said, had it not been for the help of that truck driver and a neighbor, there may not have been any survivors.
Investigators said, this fire was so bad, it may be hard to determine if there were any working smoke detectors.
The Fire Marshall did have his K9 out there earlier, searching for any accelerants, which is protocol.
No word on any cause.
