Suspect in Champaign Shooting Found

CHAMPAIGN-- Champaign Police have found a man involved in a Sunday shooting.
         After interviewing the victim and witnesses police found the suspect  in the basement of his home n the 1000 block of West Church Street.
         We're told he was alert and conscious after sustaining what police believe to be serious self-inflicted injuries.
        After several unsuccessful attempts to gain the suspect's cooperation CPD requested the U of I Police Department use a taser to get the suspect under control.
        The suspect was transported to a local  hospital for treatment and has not been arrested.
         His name has not been released.
         Sunday's shooting happened  in the 900 block of West Church Street in Champaign.
         Police responded to a call of a female shot just before 9:30.
         When they got to the scene the victim was alert and conscious.
         She was taken to Carle Hospital in Urbana.
