Concealed Carry in Illinois?

ILLINOIS--A Federal Appeals Court strikes down a ban on carrying concealed firearms in Illinois.

Illinois is the only state where carrying concealed weapons is illegal.

The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals announced today, that state lawmakers have 180 days to write a new law that legalizes concealed carry.

The ruling is a victory for gun rights advocates, who have argued that their second amendment rights are being infringed.

This ruling also stems from a lawsuit filed by several people, including a former corrections officer, and former Champaign County Jail Superintendent, Michael Moore.

The lawsuit was filed back in May 2011, against Attorney General Lisa Madigan, and Patrick Keen, the Superintendent of the Illinois State Police.

Moore said, after working in law enforcement for many years, he didn't agree with the ban.
