Teen Found Dead in Danville

DANVILLE--Family members, friends and neighbors are still in disbelief after the sudden death of a teenager who was found dead in Danville early Sunday.

Danville Police were called to the area of Lape and Fairweight at around 5:30p.m.,  after a man walking in the area discovered the victim lying in the street.

The victim was 19-year-old Scotty L. Polk of Danville who was found groaning on the street and was quickly transported to Presence Hospital. He was prounouced dead just a short time later.

"I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that its for real because I want it to be a dream so bad," said Polk's Aunt Latrena Roberson.

"He was taken from his family, his friends, his loved ones he don't deserve this," said Roberson. "That boy meant a lot to everybody. I don't care what he did, what he said, he was very outspoken but everybody loved him for who he was."

Friend of the victim, Christopher Faber, said that he has never seen such a tragedy on the streets of Danville.

"It's a tragedy in Danville that someone that young with potential that he did... died," said Faber. "You know he's got a baby, it's Christmas time coming up, nobody deserves to die like that."

Young, and full of potential, his aunt tells us he had aspirations and dreams of his own.

"He wanted to be a UFC fighter he was just telling me not too long ago he was thinking about going UFC so that he could go fight," said Roberson. "He said, I might as well get paid for fighting."

His dream of becoming a fighter is now gone and his friends and loved ones say that this is the worst crime they've seen in their neighborhood.

"Danville's getting a murder ratio thats being rated potentially, one of the highest that Danville's had and it needs to stop," Faber said.
