32 Percent of Corn Crop Planted
Last week's dry weather helped Illinois farmers plant a big portion of the state's anticipated corn crop.
The Illinois Department of Agriculture reports 32 percent of their expected crop has been planted. That's 1 percent shy of the average for this time of year, but well beyond the 5 percent that had been planted a week ago.
A handful of farmers have also started planting soybeans. The department says 2 percent of the crop was planted last week.
