Mattoon- A bar is under the microscope after a contest goes very wrong.
The Villa Nova Bar and grill is under scrutiny for allegedly letting people take their clothes off during a mechanical bull riding contest.

The manager of the Villa Nova Bar was fined $75 for violating the city's obscenity laws.
Some media outlets reported that he was arrested, but on Thursday, we spoke with manager Kevin Parrott who said, that's not the case.
Parrott said he was only slapped with the fine, he was not arrested.
He was accused of letting women expose themselves during a bull riding event.
He and the owner declined an on-camera interview, advised by their lawyer, but they maintain that both the men and women were not naked in the bar.
Parrott said that some of the people did take their shirts off, but he stressed that the women were not nude.
According to the bar owner and manager, they were still in violation of Mattoon city code.
They said that they exercised poor judgment in not only not knowing city laws, but allowing an event to take place in their place of business.
The Mattoon Police Department was unavailable for comment on this matter.

Ill. officials removing trees from state park
March 10, 2010 04:14 EST

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Diseases and damaged trees are coming down at Illini State Park south of Marseilles.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is beginning the removal this week to limit the spread of tree diseases at the park.

The process begins in the Marsatawa Area of the park. Foresters found 24 dead trees there last summer. They included 16 black oak trees.

Experts believe the trees have oak wilt. That is a very infectious disease and the trees must come down this winter.

The affected area of the park will be closed during removal. The public should not remove any of the cut wood.

Foresters will take other disease-preventing action. That includes trenching around diseased trees to keep their roots from grating to others'.
