The new Democratic nominee for Illinois lieutenant governor says he has no intention of stepping down, even as new details emerge about a 2005 domestic battery arrest.

Scott Lee Cohen said in a statement Thursday people should make up their minds about him after the facts come to light.

Governor Pat Quinn, the party's nominee for governor, says he expects Cohen to step down over charges he abused his then girlfriend.

Cohen has denied ever hitting the woman.

Cohen says he's asked the woman and his ex-wife to address the media.

Bond posted for restaurant worker accused of fraud
March 13, 2010 18:29 EST

CHICAGO (AP) -- A Chicago restaurant employee charged along with his bosses of defrauding two banks has been bonded out of jail.

Cook County officials say $25,000 was posted and accepted for Andy Bakopoulos on Saturday.

He'd been held at the Cook County Jail on $250,000 bond and had to post 10 percent to be released.

Bakopoulos is charged with felony theft along with Nick Giannis, owner of the Boston Blackie's restaurant chain and his son Chris.

Prosecutors allege the Giannises deposited checks from different banks into accounts at two banks. They then allegedly cashed the checks before it could be discovered the accounts had insufficient funds.

It wasn't immediately clear who Bakopoulos is being represented by.
