Gibson City- It's good news at GCMS high school when it comes to safe driving.

The school made the top 10 in the nation for Project Ignition.

The project is sponsored by State Farm.

GCMS receives 5-thousand dollars to travel to San Jose, California for the national service learning conference in march.

There they can take home the top prize a 10-thousand dollar grant.

The school and students involved are working hard.. to teach teens about safe driving habits.

Tips offered for Flood Awareness Week in Illinois

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- Next week is National Flood Awareness Week and to mark the event, officials in the Chicago suburb of Naperville says residents should educate themselves about flood safety.

Naperville emergency management coordinator Joe Henderson says flood chances are heightened as the spring season approaches. Henderson says residents should understand how to prepare for flooding and have an emergency plan.

The city offers other tips as well. Naperville officials residents should have an emergency kit, have an evacuation plan and stay away from floodwaters. City officials also say residents shouldn't drive through floodwaters and should follow directions from public safety officials.
