Donations are pouring in from all over the world for a kitten from our area that was badly burned in a fire last month.
Dutchess has severe burns all over her body, and her paws are wrapped in bandages.
On
September 19, an electrical fire destroyed her family's home in
Saybrook. Firefighters heard Dutchess meowing and managed to rescue her.
A Facebook page was created for Dutchess, and now donations are pouring in from as far away as Tokyo, Europe, and Australia.
"I
just want to say thank you to everybody for helping, and I want to say
thank you to Toni for saving her and doing everything that you can to
help get her home and help her get well," Dutchess' owner Jackie Jones
said. "We appreciate it so much. I just can't believe all the support
that we've had."
So far, the family has collected more than $1,200, but the vet's bill will likely total between $2,000 and $5,000.
The family did lose its pet dog in the fire.
Visit Dutchess' Facebook page to find out how you can donate.
