NewsChannel 15 Sports Director Josh Samuels has his finger on the pulse of sports in Central Illinois.
Since joining the NewsChannel 15 team in December 2003 Josh has covered everything in the wide world in sports.
From covering the Illini Men’s basketball team’s run to the Final Four in 2005 to the White Sox and Cardinals winning the World Series, Josh has been there.
Whether it’s on the court at the Assembly Hall or on the frozen tundras of the High School football fields Josh has been all over the local sports scene and will continue to work hard to bring the best sports coverage to the viewers of Central Illinois.
“The sports plate here is amazing, no matter how much we do, people always want more and that’s what keeps me motivated and excited to be working in such a great area!”
Before joining NewsChannel 15 Josh spent three plus years as the Sports Director at KREX TV in Grand Junction, Colorado where he covered everything from the Denver Broncos to the Junior College World Series.
Samuels cut his teeth as an intern in the sports department of WHDH TV in Boston where he learned from the best sports department in the business – lessons he uses on the air each day here in Central Illinois.
Josh received a BS in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Colorado and still regards Boulder as one of the best places on earth.
A native of Newton, Massachusetts, Josh will be quick to explain why Bostonians refer to Boston as the Hub of the Universe.
The highlight of his career was seeing his beloved Red Sox win the World Series at Busch Stadium in 2004.
In his spare time Josh enjoys spending time with his family and putting up big numbers on the golf course.
