Doug is the 6 and 10pm Weather-anchor for NewsChannel 15.
Doug's broadcasting career began in 1974 from his hometown of Taylorville, Illinois on WTIM/WTIM-FM. It was at Western Illinois University he got his first taste of TV on-air work, where he co-anchored the 6 PM news on the university cable TV station. He also worked at WTAX/WDBR in Springfield, Illinois during his days at W.I.U. In late 1977 he ended up in Danville at WDAN/WMBJ (later WDNL). There he helped put WDNL (D-102) on the air in late 1977, and was the morning announcer.
While at WDNL, he also did double duty over the years as Program Director, account executive, Sales Manager and General Manager. It was in 1993, he held the position of Sales Manager at WWDZ (later WRHK) then returned to WDNL as afternoon, then mid day announcer where he continued through October 2002, the 25th anniversary of WDNL (D-102).
In 1994, he took on the position of Promotions Director at WICD-TV. It was during his tenure in promotions at WICD, that he became a part-time weathercaster for weekend newscasts. In July of 1998, he left promotions and became the co-anchor and weathercaster for Sunrise Today. He was also the anchor of the Noon news. He continues to serve as WICD public service director and host of Spotlight 15. In October of 2002 he became weather-anchor for the 6 and 10 PM newscasts. His outside activities include the Vermilion County Conservation Foundation Board, working with students choosing careers in broadcasting and with various non profit groups. His hobbies include broadcast history, collecting old movies/TV shows, satellite TV and radio, home theater plus his own audio and video editing suite.
His voice has been heard on various industrial videos for companies world wide, including in store videos for over 800 Sears stores, State Farm Insurance TV commercials, an extremely popular video game in national release and other local, regional and national commercials. He also maintains a website, "Doug Quick 'On Line'", which includes an extensive section on Central Illinois radio and TV broadcast history. He has also written several newspaper columns and articles.
Doug lives north of Danville with his wife of 25 years, Melissa and two daughters.
