Melody Mendez
WICD Weekend Anchor/Reporter

Melody joined ABC NewsChannel 15 in June of 2006. She can be seen anchoring weekends and reporting during the week.

The daughter of an Air Force pilot, Melody has lived in places across the globe. Including: Peru, France, New Hampshire, New Jersey and Boston.

She received her degree in Broadcast Journalism from Boston University, where she received the "Dennis Kauff Award" for excellence in journalism.

After graduation Melody headed south to WBBJ in Jackson, Tennessee as an anchor/reporter.

During Hurricane Katrina she led a major effort to get water to victims on the gulf coast. With her help six tractor trailers full of water were sent to those who were in need.

Melody is excited to be part of the East Central Illinois community and she is most excited to cheer for the Illini! In her free time Melody likes spending time with friends, visiting family and working out.
